Qorvo's QPA9822 linear 5G high-gain/high-drive amplifier for 5G and mMIMO applications

Qorvo's new QPA9822 linear 5G high-gain/high-drive amplifier is designed for 5G New Radio (NR) instantaneous signal bandwidth and 32-node massive MIMO systems in mobile infrastructure applications.
Qorvo's QPA9822 linear 5G amplifier is designed to support 5G NR instantaneous signal bandwidths up to 530 MHz, making it ideal for the N77 frequency band critical for 5G deployments and other massive MIMO applications. The QPA9822 achieves a high gain of 39 dB at 3.5 GHz and peak power of +29 dBm, making it the highest-gain pre-driver in its class. The QPA9822 is internally matched to 50 Ω impedance across the entire 3.3 to 4.2 GHz operating band and features a VEN pin for fast enable/disable functionality.

The QPA9822 also offers external bias control for optimized linearity and supports up to 530MHz of instantaneous bandwidth. It not only delivers the highest gain achievable by 5G pre-drivers currently on the market, but also creates a scalable solution for 32T and 64T wireless base stations. Housed in a compact 16-pin 3×3mm SMT package, the QPA9822 is footprint and pin-compatible with the high-gain, high-linearity driver amplifier, the QPA9122M. This allows for easy integration into existing and new designs, helping to ensure the smooth deployment of 5G mass MIMO systems in common frequency bands worldwide.
