ST will issue a price increase notice again: the price of all products will increase from June 1st!

On May 17, STMicroelectronics ST issued a notice stating that it will increase prices for all products from June 1. Once the news was sent, it caused a lot of reposts from netizens. The price increase will begin on June 1, covering all product lines.

In the past six months or so, the price of ST products has risen all the way, and has doubled more than ten times during the hottest period. In the fourth quarter of 2020, the price of ST single-chip microcomputers has doubled several times within a week, and the shortage of ST has continued for several months, and there is no sign of relief. Now, ST's MCU is still very out of stock in the supply chain, and the price is also high. The current lead time is generally 20-26 weeks, including automotive grade (A series) chips. After this round of price increases, scarcity may be even higher.

According to statistics, MCU is still the most in short supply material in the second quarter of 2021. At present, the overseas original factory delivery time of 8-bit and 32-bit MCUs has exceeded 16 weeks, generally at 24 weeks, and the delivery time of individual models is even as long as 50 weeks. .

Affected by factors such as the tight 8-inch foundry production capacity, many major MCU manufacturers at home and abroad are still in short supply with full-loaded production lines, and MCU prices are rising. In the past six months, domestic and foreign MCU manufacturers have also increased their quotations one after another.

It is worth mentioning that after the ST price increase, other manufacturers may follow up. As far as MCU is concerned, domestic manufacturers have successively released price increase notices this year.

Today, the epidemic in Malaysia, India, Taiwan, and other regions has returned, and the supply of upstream raw materials is still under pressure for wafer manufacturers. The supply of chips in the second half of this year is not optimistic. Regarding the current situation of tight production capacity, when will it be resolved in the future, most opinions in the market are not optimistic.
